NFL Coaches That Are on the Hot Seat

As we approach Week 15 of the NFL season, here are some head coaches that could potentially lose their job in a couple of weeks:

Adam Gase- New York Jets

This one is just too painful to write, and quite frankly not much can be said other than the fact that Gase just isn’t the right man for the Jets’ head coaching job.

In two seasons, Gase has won a mere seven games and lost twenty-two. That’s a total winning percentage of .241— ouch. Not to mention, he failed to properly develop then rookie quarterback Sam Darnold.

We could continue to criticize and judge Gase’s shortcomings, but unfortunately, other coaches need to be featured in this article as well.

Anyway, according to the New York Post, Gase publicly recognized this week that he would soon be terminated when he stated, “At the end of the day, it’s about winning,’’ he said. “We haven’t done that.”'

Doug Marrone- Jacksonville Jaguars

This one is a slam dunk pick. In the past three seasons, the Jacksonville ship has been sinking fast with Marrone at its helm. During that span, the Jags have compiled a 12-33 record — yikes. However, we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge Marrone’s ‘fifteen-minutes of fame’ which he enjoyed back in 2017. During his first full season as the Jags’ head coach, Marrone led his team to a 10-6 record en route to capturing the AFC South Divisional title.

Unfortunately, some organizations just don’t thrive well in the limelight, and the Jaguars decided to get rid of their tenacious defensive players and every other valuable player in between, all while awarding a hefty contract to Nick Foles. The Foles experiment failed and Marrone was left to fend for himself with practically a lackluster, inexperienced roster. You have to feel for the man, but in the end the NFL is a cold, cut-throat business.

After this season, Marrone should no longer be the Jaguars’ head coach.

Doug Pederson- Philadelphia Eagles

At 4-8-1, Pederson’s Eagles are not even close to making the NFC Playoffs this season. Veteran quarterback Carson Wentz struggled tremendously this year with throwing mechanics and poor decision-making, which ultimately forced Pederson to replaced him with rookie Jalen Hurts.

Granted, Wentz’s struggles aren’t necessarily Pederson’s fault, but it’s the fact that he continued to favor a struggling Wentz during a time when the Eagles could have potentially gained some ground in the mighty NFC East.

On the bright side, Pederson’s Eagles still possess a better record than their rival, the Dallas Cowboys. Regardless, Pederson should be out of a job at the end of the season.

Anthony Lynn- Los Angeles Chargers

Chargers fans, I apologize. The Chargers’ Week 13 loss to the New England Patriots was a clear-cut indication as to why Lynn is no longer fit to be the Chargers’ head coach. To name a few reasons, the Chargers exhibited poor communication, disconnect between players and coaching staff and indecisiveness.

Granted the Chargers picked up a win against a horrible Atlanta Falcons team, but nevertheless they showed no signs of improvement. The same three aforementioned factors were evident again this past weekend. In particular, it was especially noticeable when the Chargers were unable to kick a field goal before the end of the first half due to Lynn’s indecisiveness.

The Chargers deserve a coach that can reap the benefits of possessing a star-studded offensive lineup and who can clean up the discordance in the defense and special teams units. Justin Herbert isn’t getting any younger and neither are Keenan Allen and Joey Bosa. Needless to say, Lynn’s time with Los Angeles is nearing its end.
